Joe Goetz , President

My interest in Education began as a PTSA Member in my children’s elementary schools leading up to my former position as the President of our Kent County High School PTSA. I am currently the President of the Kent County Youth Softball League serving the youth throughout our county. Both organizations are dedicated to supporting the youth of Kent County and providing them with the exposure and fundamentals to help them reach their maximum potential.

I am currently employed with Saputo Dairy Foods USA. My role in the Sales organization is to build strategic plans for sales growth in targeted Contract Management and Industrial accounts selling dairy products as finished goods and for use as ingredients. Responsibilities include Profit & Loss evaluations, Forecasting / Budgeting and Contract negotiations.

I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Delaware Valley University in Criminal Justice focused on Business and Psychology. My wife Liza is currently a teacher at Kent County High School; she instructs the Agriculture Pathway in the CTE program as well as Environmental Science. Both of my children; Lizzy and Will attend Kent County Public Schools.

Wendy Costa

I have been involved in education most of my adult life, as a parent, as a community college teacher in four states, as the national coordinator of a teacher education project, as a school board member, as the director of a community-wide literacy project, and as a member of the founding team of a successful charter high school in California. Currently, I am the education coordinator at Mount Harmon Plantation in Cecil County.

My family has been in Kent County since 1969. Although I lived for many years in Texas and in California, I was always happiest when I came for summer visits on the Sassafras River, and I was thrilled to move to Kent County year round in 2004. Now I live on the upper Chester River, where I lead kayak excursions for small groups.

I graduated from Vassar College and earned a Master's degree in History from Columbia University. Many years later I earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of California, Davis. I have three sons and a grandson.
