The School Resource Officer (SRO) is a sworn Deputy whose primary function is to assure a safe
and secure learning environment for students, faculty, and administrators at the Kent County
High School and Kent county Middle School. The SRO Deputy serves as a law enforcement
officer and liaison between the Kent County Sheriff’s Office and students, parents, teachers and
administrators at both schools. Our SROs attend several weeks of training for different school-
based situations. SROs are based at the schools.

Governor Larry Hogan has launched “Safe Schools Maryland,” a tip line and mobile app designed to
streamline reporting of possible threats to students and school facilities.
Students, family members, parents, teachers, administrators, and other community members can anonymously
report information to Safe Schools Maryland via a mobile app available for download through the Apple App
