WORTON — Kent County High School students will kick off March with a week of career and trades exploration.

The high school is holding Career and Trades Week March 3-7 with special events and activities each day, culminating in the annual College and Career on Friday.

The kickoff event on Monday, March 3 aims to get younger high schoolers thinking about the fair.

On that day, seniors will stop by classrooms and share tips for a successful visit to the College and Career Fair. Students will learn how to dress professionally, introduce themselves to potential employers and college representatives, what questions to ask and how to make a good first impression.

On Tuesday, March 4, juniors will have the opportunity to build their résumés with guidance from Career Counselor Brett King, the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education and local business leaders.

Through this collaboration, students will gain insights into crafting strong résumés highlighting their skills and experiences.
Representatives from trade schools will be on campus Tuesday, March 4 and Thursday, March 6.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to attend various trade school information sessions. Students are required to register by 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.

The registration form is located online at https://tinyurl.com/2rar4bfz.

On Wednesday, March 5, freshmen will explore Kent County High School's Career and Technology Education (CTE) Completer Programs.

Also on March 5, local fire companies will be on campus during lunch shifts, providing students an opportunity to learn about public safety career options, raise awareness about the Fire and Rescue CTE Program offered through the high school and recruit volunteers.
