ROCK HALL — The community's generosity was on full display at Rock Hall Elementary School with a table piled high with socks.

Throughout October, Rock Hall Elementary, a designated Community School under the state's Blueprint for Maryland's Future, sought the sock donations.

Families and community members responded by donating nearly 1,100 pairs to the Sock-tober drive to help those in need.

"Rock Hall Elementary families and the community collected 1,096 pairs of socks," said Principal Gillian Spero. "We were completely blown away with the support from everyone with our Sock-tober event. Thank you!"

Socks of all sizes in their original packaging were accepted at the school.

Local businesses Bayside Market, Fresh Start, Haven Harbor, Java Rock and Village ACE Hardware joined in the effort, putting out collection buckets.

"We are so appreciative of their support and the community's support," said Jory Mitzel, Rock Hall Elementary Community School specialist.
